Interview with Emeline Hahn, CEO of Fizimed
Founded in 2017 in Strasbourg, the health tech startup Fizimed develops innovative devices dedicated to women’s health. The company now has over 400,000 users across more than 15 countries and continues its international expansion, particularly in Germany and the United States. Emeline Hahn, co-founder and CEO, chose Alsace as the base for launching and growing the startup, drawn by the strength of Strasbourg’s health and innovation ecosystem.

Emeline Hahn is a research engineer by training, with expertise in microbiology and analytical chemistry. She later expanded her skills at ESCP Business School, earning a specialized master’s degree in pharmaceutical and biotechnology management.
After starting her career in R&D, she moved into business development for biomedical technologies at LGC Standards, then joined Alsace BioValley as a project manager, supporting innovative companies in the health sector.
In 2017, she co-founded Fizimed in Strasbourg, a company specializing in medical devices for women’s health, which she has led with a strong international vision ever since.
ADIRA: Why did you choose Alsace?
EH: Although I’m not originally from Alsace, I chose Strasbourg to develop Fizimed because it’s a vibrant city deeply rooted in innovation. The local ecosystem offers a strong and coherent network across the entire innovation chain: from creation to commercialization, including funding. Strasbourg is also a major health hub in France, with infrastructures like the Nextmed campus and a dense network of committed public and private stakeholders. It’s fertile ground for launching impactful tech projects.
How do you view the Alsatian economy?
Discreet, but remarkably effective. There’s a real ability here to act, collaborate, and innovate pragmatically, without grand speeches, but with tangible results. Alsace is a region of substance, not show.
Can you tell us about the project you’re currently working on?
I founded Fizimed, an innovative health company focused on women. We design connected solutions to address often-overlooked health issues, such as pelvic floor rehabilitation. Our flagship product, the Emy Trainer, is a connected probe that enables women to perform effective, autonomous rehabilitation at home. It’s a deeply social and societal project, helping millions of women regain freedom and comfort.

What specific strengths of Alsace helped support this project?
Strasbourg is a stronghold for health-related projects, with a solid ecosystem combining research, industry, public health, and innovation. Proximity to Germany is a major asset: our Emy Trainer is reimbursed by German health insurance, which has greatly supported our international growth. Today, Fizimed operates in over 15 countries, mainly in Europe, and also has a subsidiary in the United States.
How has ADIRA supported you in your journey or projects?
ADIRA is a valuable partner in the Alsatian ecosystem. They’ve supported us at key moments in our development, connecting us with the right people. They’re one of the growth enablers for companies looking to establish a lasting presence in Alsace.
How is your organization adapting to major transitions (ecological, digital, social)?
Fizimed is firmly focused on social and societal impact: we’re improving women’s health through technology. Our approach is also environmentally responsible: the Emy Trainer is entirely designed and manufactured with French partners, emphasizing quality, proximity, and sustainability.
We’re also committed to a gentler work culture: 90% of our team commutes by train or bike. It may seem anecdotal, but it reflects a healthy, pleasant, and accessible work environment—made possible by Alsace’s well-developed transport network. This fosters engagement, collaboration, and makes our company more attractive.
How has living in Alsace influenced your success?
Alsace offers an exceptional balance between quality of life and economic performance. It’s a calm, stimulating, and inspiring work environment. As an entrepreneur, it’s helped me stay grounded, make sound decisions, and attract talent from across the country. Its strategic location at the crossroads of several cultures is also a real asset for a company like ours with international ambitions.
If you had to convince a young talent to move to Alsace, what would you say?
Want to join an innovative, purpose-driven, fast-growing startup that makes a real impact? Come to Alsace. Here, you’ll find exciting projects, a fulfilling work environment, and a genuine community of forward-thinking players.
Any final words?
Alsace is a land of innovation, conviction, and balance. It’s where Fizimed was born, grew, and continues to accelerate, thanks to a dedicated team and a rich ecosystem. The future is being built here, and we believe in it.
A huge thanks to Emeline Hahn for her insights!
