Strasbourg is now just 1 hour and 46 minutes away from Paris, thanks to the TGV. Service began on 3rd July 2016. Discover the many new features of the East European High Speed Line!
Nine years after the opening of Phase 1, the East European High Speed Line (LGV Est) has been improved, now connecting Paris to Strasbourg in 1 hour and 46 minutes, versus 2 hours and 20 minutes previously. This upgrade has made the eastern TGV the fastest rail link in France!
In addition to connecting Strasbourg to Paris, the overarching goal of the LGV Est is to boost Strasbourg’s European influence by bringing the Alsatian capital closer to Brussels and Luxembourg. Two return trips per day will link Strasbourg to these two cities.
Service to Germany has also been improved! Extra connections to Frankfurt and Stuttgart will mean that these 2 cities will be 1 hour and 45 minutes and 1 hour and 18 minutes away from Strasbourg, respectively!
In addition to the TGV connection to Paris, the East European High Speed Line is the start of the Main Line for Europe project, the future high-speed rail line between Paris and Bratislava.
