German pharmaceutical company Merck has just invested in 2 new production lines and a new building dedicated to R&D at its Alsatian site in Molsheim.
Operating in Molsheim since 1972, Merck has grown continuously, specialising in particular in the production of tools that detect microbiological pollution. The historic site of the Group’s BioMonitoring business, the company inaugurated 2 new production lines for ready-to-use culture media for the pharmaceutical and food-processing industries. In addition to these lines, a new high-tech building has been inaugurated. Called the “Cube”, it is mainly dedicated to R&D and laboratories.
The 12 million-euro investment enables the company to meet increasing global demand and to respond to stricter rules for the control of food and drugs.
With 1,400 employees, Merck Molsheim is the Group’s largest facility in France and 3rd largest site in the world.
