The Community Council of Wissembourg and the Erlebnis Akademie AG unveiled on the 22nd of July the project “Chemin des cimes de l’Alsace verte” on the former military base of Drachenbronn, as part of Wissembourg’s plan for touristic development.
The forest path in the treetops will provide a new and attractive leisure option focusing on environmental protection, nature and well-being.
The one-kilometre-long, 23-metre-high path will include several interactive play stations and recreational experiences on various themes related to nature and the local environment. The highlight will be the 30-metre-high observation tower with an integrated slide, which, thanks to its exceptional architectural form, will offer a unique view of the Rhine plain, the Black Forest and the Northern Vosges Mountains.
The project is part of UNESCO’s “Man and the Biosphere” programme, which aims at ensuring a harmonious coexistence of man and environment within the Northern Vosges’ regional nature park.
It will generate about 15 new jobs, with a total investment of around 5.5 million euros. The opening of the treetop path is planned for summer 2020.
