The Director of the Haute Ecole des Arts du Rhin (HEAR – a vocational university of arts, based over three sites in Strasbourg and Mulhouse), David Cascaro, is convinced that, “Design is a source of attractiveness and dynamism for a territory.” Indeed, the partnerships between companies, designers and the students of the Ecole Supérieure d’Art de Mulhouse (Le Quai) have been forged around the Mulhouse textile industry. He also mentions HEAR’s commitment to the Alsace Tech initiative, alongside business, management and engineering schools. He further mentions the participation of the students in the Talents Sati competition, where the objective is to decorate the pediment of the Cafés Sati factory on the Rhine port in Strasbourg with a gigantic mural, annually displayed to highlight the enthusiasm for the start-up weekends of Strasbourg, which brings together IT engineers, managers, designers, etc., who have 54 hours within which to set up their “business”.
