A leader in aircraft maintenance and completions, Jet Aviation is beginning construction on a new hangar at its EuroAirport facility. The objective: boosting Jet Aviation’s ability to accommodate and work on larger and larger aircraft.
A site that is renowned worldwide, the Jet Aviation completions and maintenance facility at EuroAirport operates 8 hangars in a surface area of 22,000 sq. m. In order to respond to changes in airplane size and growing demand for wide-body aircraft, the Swiss company is investing CHF 26 million in the construction of a new hangar with a surface area of 8,750 sq. m.
“We will be able to simultaneously place two wide-body aircraft, such as a Boeing 747 and an Airbus 330, plus several airplane types such as the Gulfstream, Falcon or Bombardier,” explained Sylvain von Hof, Director Real Estate at Jet Aviation in Basel. Jet Aviation’s facility in Basel is capable of managing about sixty aircraft of all sizes, simultaneously.
Founded in 1967, Jet Aviation is successful worldwide. Specialising in aircraft completions and refurbishment, the company employs 4,500 people at 30 sites around the world. The firm’s most versatile skills and areas of activity are in the Three Borders region. With a workforce of 1,600 people, the EuroAirport facility is at the forefront of the company’s aircraft completions business.
Within the airport, the activities of Jet Aviation complement those of Air Service Basel and AMAC Aerospace, forming an ultra-specialised centre of expertise in the completion and maintenance of private jets.
