3 Alsatians in the World’s top 100 best chefs

The professional “Le Chef” magazine has unveiled the 3rd edition of the “100 chefs” ranking at the “Chefs World Summit” gastronomy conference organised in Monaco. This year, 3 Alsace chefs make it into this prestigious ranking!

Initiated in 2015, the “100 Chefs” is the only global ranking of chefs, where the voters are the chefs themselves. In all, 534 two and three Michelin star chefs from 5 continents were asked to answer this delicate, complex question.

To establish this prestigious list, the chefs were consulted to designate the best of their peers by answering the following question: “Who are the 5 chefs that best embody the values of the profession, whose standard of cooking is unparalleled and whose restaurant you must visit? ”

After Pierre Gagnaire and Michel Bras, it is L’Arpège chef, Alain Passard, who received the most votes from his peers. Over one-third of the chefs in the ranking are French, and we find amongst them 3 Alsatian chefs:

  • Marc Haeberlin of the Auberge de l’Ill
  • Olivier Nasti of the Chambard, a newcomer in the ranking
  • Jean-Georges Klein of the Villa René Lalique

A new global recognition of Alsatian gastronomy!
