During the start-up phase, there will probably be up to 50 new job openings, with more to follow later on. “In the Alsace region, CTDI SAS is one of the largest new business start-ups in the past few years,“ as the business development agency for the Alsace region, Alsace International, points out. At its 8 locations in 6 countries in Europe, CTDI employs more than 1,000 people.

The arguments in favor of the decision for Strasbourg were, on the one hand, its proximity to the company's Headquarters in Malsch, Germany, and on the other hand, the good transportation links, enabling the company to intensify its business relationships with its important French customers. “In the future, we will offer our customers a service range that is perfectly tailored to the require-ments of the French-speaking market,“ says Dieter Hollenbach. The first projects are already underway, and more are in the pipeline.

The new workshop of more than 1,500 square meters (16,146 square feet) has already been equipped with some test and measurement devices. In the future, technical communication network infrastructure components—such as modems, set-top boxes, wireline and wireless circuit boards—will be tested and repaired at the new facility.

CTDI will also use the test devices it developed in-house, referred to as GEN3 testers, in Strasbourg. “With our GEN3 testers, we can test all functions of a set-top box, a digital receiver or a modem automati-cally,“ concludes Dieter Hollenbach.

More information: www.ctdi.eu

Estimated at several millions euros, the project involves the creation of ten direct jobs and several others by subcontractors and service suppliers.
The installations will be made of adaptable containers built by OVH and will contain the whole necessary equipment (computers, cooling system, maintenance), making a possible extension easier. Its activities being energy-intensive, OVH increases its efforts to diminish its energy-consumption.
The group therefore intends to create a wind park of 8 windmills with a capacity of 6.4 megawatts in Ortoncourt (Vosges) for €5M. It plans furthermore to use the waterway to bring its service containers from Roubaix to Strasbourg.

Data source: First Eco Alsace et Lorraine, www.firsteco.fr adapted from Les Dernières Nouvelles d'Alsace, 17/03, AntoineLatham - Nord Eclair, 16/03
