The major actions of the French Government’s Automotive Plan

Automotive Plan: the French government has presented its major actions to support the country’s automotive industry, notably with measures designed to boost French car spending.

By its automotive plan, the French government wants to make the country’s automotive industry more competitive and give it a new breath of innovation and solidarity. Thus, several measures to accelerate industrial developments have been proposed:
  • supporting the purchase of clean vehicles, with a new ceiling bonus on electric vehicles (increased from €5,000 to €7,000) and hybrid vehicles (increased from €2,000 to €4,000)
  • helping car manufacturers to innovate, by redirecting €350 million worth of funding for future investment in line with the clusters, the public investment bank, the European Investment Bank and the European Union
  • encouraging businesses to locate innovation in France, by perpetuating the Research Tax Credit and making it more accessible to SMEs

The objective of this plan is to sustain the production sites, employment and R&D in France.
